About Jesper Sjölander
Raised in Stavre, Jämtland (Northern Sweden) and based in Kungsängen outside Stockholm. Trained musical theatre performer, freelancing in culture since 2003 — now focusing more specifically on screen acting.
Short bio
Acting, to me, is a craft in constant development. I am driven by the process of building complex, human portraits by combining technical awareness with a rich inner imagination. Recently, I have been deepening my work with Chubbuck’s 12-step technique and studying screen acting, which I will continue to do in the autumn of 2026. I enjoy giving my characters a hidden inner life – secrets, small behaviours and specific drives – creating tension beneath the surface. I see it as my task to always defend my characters, whether they are ordinary, broken, dangerous or far removed from myself. On set, I work technically to give the editing room the best possible material, without losing my sensitivity to the moment. I trust the interplay and allow the camera to capture what arises here and now. For me, the goal is always the same: a personal, stripped-back expression that can truly be felt on screen.

Fun fact
Stavre is a small village of roughly 200 residents in Jämtland, located between Östersund and Sundsvall. When I was 12, I ran away from home to “see the world” — and ended up in the newspaper. It’s shaped me: curiosity, searching, and the drive to go where the stories are. I’m still looking for new experiences.
